President's Letter
June, 2011

Greetings Fellow Skalleagues!

Well, it's that time of year again ... the short break for summer. The Club takes a two month hiatus and returns in September. Of course, we still have our fun summer Club fundraiser this August at the Mai Kai in Ft. Lauderdale. Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 4th from 5:30pm-7:30pm for a fun industry get together (think membership drive). You will see the e-vite come your way shortly.

Our June meeting was held at the Holiday Inn, Highland Beach. It was a small intimate crowd, but as ever, great camaraderie, food and an amazing view to enjoy the final meeting before our summer break. If you have missed this venue the past two years, you must join us here next time. This is definitely Florida at its’ finest! We sometimes take for granted our local amazing beach front views.

Just a reminder that we have the SIUSA Region IV 2011 Skål Summer Congress at Ocean Reef Club in beautiful Key Largo August 19th- 21st, 2011. This year it is being hosted by the Skål International Miami Club. Enclosed in the e-mail with this letter is the invitation with all details. This is a golf outing, but no need to golf in order to go. We want to have great Club representation at this event as it will be our Club's turn next year to host this annual Congress. A number of us will be attending so please let me know if you are interested in coming down for the day on Saturday (only a 55 mile jaunt by car) to enjoy watching the tournament or enjoying Saturday’s Beach BBQ!

We are starting to plan for our 2011 Holiday Party (no kidding!), specifically starting to get some raffle and auction items. If you have a favorite restaurant, spa, dog groomer, bakery or any local spot that you frequent, think about approaching them for a gift certificate for our holiday auction. We’ve had some great silent auction items in the past and are looking to expand on our traditional travel packages. We have Jawayne trying to scour up some goodies from her ASME buddies and James, our favorite live auctioneer (who knew?!) is starting to gather items as well. Not only did he do an amazing job spearheading last year’s auction, but he now has the official job of auctioneer for this year as well! We are going to try to mix it up a bit with some great silent auction items, have some bigger items to auction live, as well as great raffle prizes.

That's a wrap for now. Have a great summer, have fun and use sunscreen. See you at the Mai-Kai!

Skal!
