President’s Letter

Greetings All,

The West Palm Beach Airport Hilton did a terrific job for the first meeting of your new Board of Directors. We enjoyed butler passed appetizers and wine before we sat down to a very nice dinner. The service and food were both well done. It turns out that our two servers are familiar with SKAL and were both with the airlines – one 22 years with Pan Am and the other server was with American.

The turnout was fairly light even though we started out Monday with over 22 RSVP’s and had several cancels throughout the day on Tuesday. I want to take a moment and remind everyone that any cancelations after the Friday before the dinner will be charged as the Club has a responsibility to our host property to pay for the guaranteed number attending.

We presented Becky with her Past Presidents medallion and plaque as well as a few other goodies to help her enjoy her retirement. Becky was a great President and is definitely an asset to our club and SKAL International. It is terrific that she is remaining on the board.

We are quickly coming up on the Club’s 6th Annual Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Summer Social and Wine Auction scheduled for June 15th at the Doubletree Hotel in Deerfield Beach. It is always a fun event with lots of wine and live auction items to benefit the Club's charities and of course great networking. I look forward to seeing you all there. To make donations of wine and/or auction items please contact Dick Stafford. Another request for donations will be sent out in the next few days.

Don't forget about another fun event this summer the Discover the Palm Beaches Hospitality Industry Icebreaker on July 20th. Those who went last year can attest to the fact that our club had a great turnout and from what I have heard donated the most toward the school supply charity drive. This year's event will again feature a school supply drive for Place of Hope charity. So mark your calendars for both of these events and don’t forget if anyone is interested in attending the SKAL International Region IV Retreat, it will be held August 19-21, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Resort at Jekyll Island.
